From Marmaris to Antalya the Turquoise coastline is gorgeous, the weather is reliably excellent and there are heaps of things to see and do. It has become the destination of choice for many first time and repeat visitors to Turkey.

Çaliş

Çaliş is a charming and laid back holiday resort, with a 2km beach. The seafront has an attractively paved promenade lined with plenty of friendly bars and a range of international restaurants. Çaliş is famous for its dramatic and beautiful red sunsets. There is something for everyone and it has frequent, convenient transport links to Fethiye by bus and water taxi. Future work is planned to pave the entire length of the seafront walkway, of about 4km, from Çaliş to Fethiye with bars and restaurants dotted every 500 metres or so.

Fethiye

The bustling harbour and market town of Fethiye sits at the hillside of Mount Mendos in the Touros Mountain chain on the picturesque south coast of Turkey, where the Mediterranean meets the Aegean Sea. This charming town is in a bay within Fethiye Gulf where both large and small islands are scattered. The rear of the bay is surrounded by pine forests, making it one of the most naturally beautiful holiday resorts in Turkey, boasting the prettiest beaches. It is the major commercial centre of the region particularly on market day each Tuesday ( definitely worth a visit to try out your haggling skills!). The town centre is full of shops, bars, restaurants and non-stop nightlife.

The area has an excellent Mediterranean climate, which is hot and dry during summer and warm and rainy during winter, with over 300 sunny days each year! The temperature is approximately 30 degrees during the summer months and is generally over 10 degrees during winter. The area boasts one of the nicest sea front promenades and largest marinas in Turkey. There are a range of blue flag beaches with plenty of watersports; sea water temperature never goes below 16 degrees during any season making swimming possible for nine months of the year. Really there are only two seasons in Fethiye – Spring and Summer!!

About 20 minutes (£2) by bus from Fethiye, lies Oludeniz (Blue Lagoon) which has been described as “the Eden bestowed by God to the World”. It has a beach 3km long and has the appearance of a natural lagoon with warm water during 10 months of the year.

Close to two main airports, Dalaman about 50 km away and Antalya about 196 km: the drive from Dalaman to Fethiye / Çaliş is unforgettable with forest-clad mountains giving the dramatic backdrop to the plains, coastal towns, and villages where time appears to have stood still and beaches that are scattered throughout the region. During the months of mid June-August there are twice-daily direct ferries between Fethiye and Rhodes.

The attractions range from the modern marina with its impressive yachts (plus a Sunsail Holiday base), to the hustle and bustle of its authentic Turkish bazaar where you can haggle for anything. Fethiye is a bustling, market town with a magical atmosphere not to be missed.

If you need any other reasons to come and stay at Moonlight Villa, almost everyone speaks English and there is easy access to many major tourist attractions, both historical and fun, including the water park in Çaliş.

Surrounding area

The surrounding area is a mixture of mountains, fertile valleys, olive groves and many hidden beaches and rocky coves. The most famous beach is at Oludeniz with bright golden sands ending in a teardrop beach protecting an azure lagoon. The area is surrounded by fascinating historical sights dating back to the ancient kingdom of Lycia. For active holiday seekers, there are numerous sporting activities available including white water rafting, horse riding, paragliding from Mount Baba, kite surfing, quad biking, mountain biking, diving, sailing etc. There are jeep Safaris and a huge natural gorge at Saklikent for the boat lovers there are the numerous boat trips to the local islands and beaches, as well as a children’s Aqua City close by and skiing in winter an hour away.
